Getting started
Contribute
Evolving Shell DS is a continuous process, informed by insights from the people who use it. That's why we encourage your contributions and feedback, to sustain a design system which is proactive, trusted and relevant.
Component enhancements
This work involves enhancing our components in code, like adding new features or variants. Designers are often responsible for researching UX and visual solutions and then creating a design spec for developers.

Website documentation (Coming soon)
All components and patterns require usage, style, code, and accessibility guidance on the SDS website. You can learn how to contribute documentation from the team as well as using Sharepoint to build the necessary pages.

Raising issues and bugs
If you find a bug in the source code, you can help us by filling out a bug report and, ideally, submitting a pull request with a fix. You can also capture any accessibility fixes that might be needed too.

Development contributions
If you are a developer, you can help by integrating new features, fixing issues or generally helping us improve the system for everyone at Shell. We've put in place a contribution cookbook for you to read in GitHub.
The Shell Design System is an inner source initiative, so contributions are welcome! We encourage anybody interested to start contributing to the system.

Icons and pictograms
We’re always looking to add new icons and pictograms to the library for other teams to use in their projects. Simply create a branch of the master file in Figma and add your icons.
